The 2008 Black and Gold Reunion will take place July 25-26 on the campus of Appalachian. This event is open to all alumni who graduated from Appalachian prior to 1973. Participants, including the honored classes of 1968, 1958 and 1948, will enjoy a full weekend of activities to reconnect with old friends and Appalachian.

Class of 1958 Gift
This year, the Class of 1958 is reviving an old tradition by giving our beloved alma mater a reunion class gift. Based on responses to the reunion surveys, the Class of 1958 has selected to contribute to the Appalachian ACCESS Scholarship, which offers low-income students from North Carolina a four-year education at Appalachian debt-free. Yosef Club Annual Golf Tournament
8:30a.m., Jefferson Landing
This annual tournament benefits the Yosef Club scholarship for student athletes. $150 individual, $1,000 corporate challenge team (4 players). Sponsorships available for $100 per hole. For more information, call 828-262-3108.
Campus & Library Tour
3 p.m., Broyhill Inn
Make your reservation to tour campus by bus and see the amazing new Belk Library and Information Commons. The tour begins at the back entrance to the Broyhill Inn. Student Ambassadors will guide the tour. Free admission, RSVP required.
Reunion Registration
3:30-7 p.m., Broyhill Inn Alumni Hall
Pick up your reunion packet, including name tag and program. Pre-paid concert tickets for
Saturday night will also be distributed.
Reunion Reception
5:30 p.m., Broyhill Inn Alumni Hall
Complimentary social, during which you can flip through yearbooks, find classmates and reminisce with other alumni.
The Sounds of Appalachian Dance
6:30 p.m., Broyhill Inn
Enjoy a buffet dinner with light music as you visit, then stay and dance the night away with DJ Jim Reary ’76. Dress is casual, preferably Black and Gold.
Tickets $25 per person prior to July 25, $27 after the deadline.
SATURDAY, JULY 26
Rhododendron Society Breakfast
7:30 a.m., Broyhill Room
Limited space. Firist-come, first served.
The Reich College of Education will present this year’s Rhododendron Society inductees. The Society honors alumni whose service as teachers, librarians, human service professionals or administrators has reflected great credit on themselves and the University.
Reunion Memories Session
10 a.m., Powers Ballroom, Broyhill Inn
A representative from the Honor Class of 1958 will speak about their lives as a student on campus. This event is always full of campus history and for many, one of the highlights of the weekend.

Alumni will meet in a more
intimate setting with classmates from their Appalachian years. Group photos will be taken of those celebrating their 40th, 50th and 60th reunions. Honor reunion class members, don’t miss this photo

Heritage Luncheon

Chancellor Kenneth E.
Peacock will welcome
everyone and share his vision for Appalachian’s future.
The 50th Reunion class gift will be presented to the university during the luncheon. $20 per person.
The Charlie Daniels Band Concert
at the Holmes Convocation Center
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy
legendary musicians The Charlie Daniels Band, a group whose sound spans 35 years and multple musical genres. This year’s concert will be held in the Holmes Convocation Center with fireworks to follow outside. Black and Gold Participants are eligible for discounted tickets when purchased from the alumni office by July 24th.
Tickets are $25.50 each and may be purchased by calling the alumni offce at 866-756-ALUM or returning your Black & Gold brochure reservation form.
